The Tippie College of Business of the University of Iowa offers a Full-Time MBA program that integrates coursework with consulting projects and global trips, to give the skills and expertise that employers demand for. All Full-time MBA students study the same set of core courses in the first semester and then declare one of four concentrations towards the end of the semester. You then join a career academy that aligns with your specific concentration over the next three semesters. In addition to the classes you take in your concentration, you will study other electives of your choice for a total of 60 semester hours. Most courses are covered in 8-week modules but a few are completed through the 16-week format, including the two real-world consulting projects. Courses are delivered through three academies: finance, marketing, and business analytics, and involve those activities, projects, networks, and influencers relevant to your concentration. Through assistance from your academy’s two directors, you will refine your career exploration and coursework as a team to ensure it aligns with skills employers look for. The Finance concentration allows students to pursue one of two tracks: investment management or corporate finance. The Marketing concentration prepares graduates to manage every element of a brand and to add to the company’s bottom line. Lastly, the Business analytics concentration teaches students to analyze complex data, utilize technology, solve real problems, and lead businesses to better decisions. In the second semester of your first year, you will participate in the Iowa MBA Consulting – a cross-functional project that gives students a chance to enhance their acquired knowledge solving real business challenges for clients. Students work in teams based on their background, skills, and interests and are guided by the Iowa MBA Consulting director throughout the entire project engagement. In year two, you'll complete a consulting project for another client that will involve solving a problem that matches your specific area of concentration.
