The program empowers you to utilize your own creativity and insights based on a rigorous foundation of analysis and knowledge, to solve complex real-world problems. Small class sizes ensure students can work closely with the faculty who will also be actively engaged in the MBA education from day one. Through their research, the faculty helps advance understanding of the financial system, competition in technology markets, cross-border trade dynamics, and healthcare operations, among other subjects. Other than that, many of the class sessions are co-taught by faculty from different disciplines who bring diverse perspectives to the classroom and to the questions under discussion. At the start of the program, you will study a series of foundational courses teaches you the skills and language you will need to excel in any career in business and management. Courses in the first year are carefully planned to deliver a deep understanding of the whole organization and how it can impact on society. Yale MBA students take on elective courses starting in the first year and throughout the second year, which help them build specialized expertise in areas of professional interest. Considering that the ability to lead and work effectively in teams is essential to the success of any organization, it is mandatory that all MBA students fulfill the Leadership Distribution Requirement by taking at least one elective that focuses on leadership or major ethical and societal challenges. Yale SOM students must also complete a Global Studies Requirement in the form of an International Experience course, a week-long Global Network mini-course, an online Global Network Course, or other approved electives that involve international travel and study.
