The Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Technology Project Management program offered at Robert Morris University is designed for IT professionals and practitioners who either work in or plan to work in a project-oriented environment. Applicants with an academic background IT are preferred but students who have not completed a specific course in IT may be admitted provisionally, and will be required to complete the course during the first semester of enrollment at RMU. Most undergraduate and graduate programs in project management in the United States focus tightly on issues relating to scheduling and resource management for military and construction industry projects. However, Robert Morris University's M.S. in Information Technology Project Management was the first graduate degree program in the nation to focus specifically on IT project management. The degree will prepare you to apply knowledge and provide leadership in the IT project management environment. It will also empower you to demonstrate an advanced level of intellectual achievement in the context of IT project management. The MS IT Project Management program is also delivered fully online and is identical to the face to face version of the degree. The program offers three concentration tracks so you can personalize your study: General Specialization, Info Systems Specialization, and a Project Management Internship. The internship component allows you to apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world situations and problems. By the time you graduate, you’ll have learnt to synthesize theory and practice of appropriate project management concepts in the design and development of IT projects. You will also be able to utilize project management software to help plan, control, and document the use of the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) knowledge areas and processes for any type of IT project. Career opportunities for this program are guaranteed because as information technology (IT) continues to advance rapidly, the demand for IT project managers will definitely increase.
