The DePaul University Master of Science in IT Project Management provides students with the skills and acumen necessary for a career in managing all aspects of Information Technology projects as well as the other larger programs. The program is designed for working professionals who possess a Bachelor's degree or significant work experience in an IT related area. Students whose undergraduate degree is in an unrelated area will be required to produce evidence of at least two years of responsible work experience in an IT-related field. Students gain experience with the latest methodologies such as Agile Project Management, project portfolio management, and the enabling program management office. The program’s curriculum covers in depth such topics as risk management, procurement, contract management, time and cost estimating, organizational change management, and stakeholder management. To earn the degree, students must complete a minimum of 52 graduate credit hours. This includes 24 quarter hours (generally 6 courses) comprising project management core. A minimum of twelve quarter hours (generally 3 courses) must be taken from DePaul’s College of Computing and Digital Media. Students also select from a wide range of electives to meet personal career goals. These electives cover a broad range of technical, managerial, and information systems topics. Students can get help from their advisor to identify and select courses most directly associated with their career plans.

Students also take on a required Capstone course, where they integrates the skills and techniques learned in previous IT Project Management courses to solve IT strategic and IT portfolio problems. This is done through use of project management software, in depth analysis of case studies and readings, along with knowledge gained from guest speakers experienced in IT Portfolio Management and IT strategy.
