The Master of Project Engineering and Management (MPEM) offered at Montana Tech of the University of Montana is designed to give working professionals an opportunity to enhance their technical and managerial skills with minimum disruption to their workday. This internet-based program offers working professionals the convenience of working and learning from anywhere. Montana Tech developed the program in collaboration with several companies in order to satisfy their expanding needs. It was also targeted at meeting the demands of today's competitive market, which seeks professionals who can handle multiple tasks effectively while working with clients and associates for more profitable outcomes. Applicants for this program are required to have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or another technical degree. However, students with non-engineering (technical degree) may be required to take additional courses as prerequisites. Admission into the program will be evaluated based on the applicant’s educational background and work experience.
The program is taught by outstanding faculty members with extensive experience in a variety of disciplines. The program’s curriculum focuses on technical management and is designed to provide the tools necessary to become an efficient project manager. This degree is structured around three primary areas: Advanced Engineering Principles; Industrial and Management Engineering; and Business and Organizational Management. This non-thesis degree is offered during fall, spring, and summer semesters, and includes six core courses and four technical elective courses. All courses are three credits each for a total of 30 semester credits. Since all the MPEM courses are offered online, graduate students are able to coordinate their studies with their professional and personal demands. It also includes a final project presentation to the committee members as part of the requirements for the degree. This presentation will take place on campus.
