The Columbia University’s Full-Time MBA program prepares students to navigate and use complex business challenges to create new opportunities. The program is taught by a faculty renowned for their transformative research and extensive industry experience. The school core curriculum builds a foundation necessary for success in any field, while electives offer insights into specialized areas of expertise. This program is designed to give students an in-depth mastery of the academic disciplines and applied functional areas necessary to every business leader’s success. This program is taught through case-based lessons with supporting short lectures and written assignments. Classes are conducted Monday to Thursday and are 90 minutes in length, with 15 minutes between them. It also features other collaborative learning methods which train students to analyze, decide, and lead. Exemption exams are offered at the beginning of each term to allow students who are already well-versed in a particular subject area the opportunity to replace core courses with electives. This program features an intensive core curriculum with such courses as Corporate Finance, Financial Accounting, Managerial Statistics, Managerial Economics, Strategy Formulation, Lead: People, Teams, Organizations, Marketing, Operational Management, Business Analytics, and Global Economic Environment. These courses explore understanding organizations, competitiveness productivity and growth. In the second year, students select from one of the largest and most innovative slate of electives at any business school. These electives enable students to immerse themselves in specialized topics which are instructed by faculty members and practitioners who bring real world experience to the classroom. Students may assemble their own elective sequence or select from the school’s recommended courses for common career paths which include entrepreneurship, healthcare, marketing, media, real estate, value investing, and social enterprises. The Career Management Center helps students build lifelong career management skills through career workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and seminars that give them an edge in a competitive job market.
