EspressReport Lite , free business intelligence (BI) and operational reporting : Quadbase Systems, Inc. introduced EspressReport Lite, a free version of EspressReport for advanced business intelligence (BI) and operational reporting. Based on EspressReport v6.6, EspressReport Lite is a Java report development tool kit. EspressReport Lite comes with a powerful, high performance reporting engine and a visual report builder. EspressReport Lite let easily build embedded reporting functionality into web based or standalone applications and deliver pixel perfect reports. It provides the same capabilities as EspressReport except that sub-reports, drill-down, embedded charts and scheduling are not supported. Developers can distribute the reporting engine to end users free of charge. However, technical support is not included.

EspressReport is a powerful development toolkit for building Java based reporting systems that can support both simple and complex reports that include sub reports, drill-downs, charts, and template security. It can satisfy a wide range of Java developers as it contains both an intuitive report designer and a robust API. Version 6.6 now features unexpanding PAK files which enhances the capability for end users to seamlessly share reports, sub reports, and drilldowns in one file, making collaboration effective and convenient. The new select “ALL” parameter value and the ability to map default parameters to SQL provides even more customization options. The new redo/ undo options for all text areas enables users to easily make changes. The vertical text and round corners features make reports more visually appealing.

All Quadbase products are written in pure Java and run on all platforms that support Java. All commercial Application Servers such as WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic App Server, JBOSS, GlassFish, and Tomcat are supported. Data sources can come from all JDBC compliant databases, JNDI, Java classes, XML files, WSDL SOAP, SalesForce SOAP, and EJB. Reports can be generated in highly formatted DHTML, print quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and XML and CSV data dumps.
