WooCommerce is an open-source, customizable eCommerce platform that goes beyond the confines of traditional eCommerce solutions. It’s built on WordPress. It allows businesses to sell anything, either physical things or even digital.
It’s for selling products and services, making them affordable and accessible. With WooCommerce one gets to keep 100% control over all data, support for mobile devices and scalability for sites. It’s an easy to use solution that is powerful. Even for a non-tech savvy entrepreneur it simplifies eCommerce. It’s built as a free WordPress plugin, people can set up an eCommerce store in minutes and start selling.
WooCommerce is perfect in simplifying product and order management without overwhelming the end-user. Setting up products on a site is very simple. One can create, edit, hide, and delete products; segregate products into categories; tag products for easy searching etc. In addition, it also has advanced features like grouping products according to type and/or shipping method, and also being able to determine different rates for different product groups.
WooCommerce offers basic payment methods like Paypal, BACS and cash on delivery. Shipping and payment settings are easily configurable in the WooCommerce dashboard.
WooCommerce is good at taking care of taxes by enabling automatic tax calculations which are based on the customer’s shipping and billing address, or the shop’s base address. In case more functionality and security is required, then WooCommerce extensions can be used that allow removal of limitations through customizations and integrations with third party services. WooCommerce enables a business to focus less on the technology and more on the important aspects.
