SearchUnit

SearchUnit is a search engine component library for MVC & Web Form applications. It provides unlimited searching with no restrictions on number of searches, index size, document limit or file types that users can index. SearchUnit is truly a fully featured, full text search experience for the organization’s site. Its latest AJAX based end user interface is smooth and quick, exactly what users will expect.

Users can also build the best internal search for their app by using SearchUnit’s open API and Plug-in architecture to make internal search engine work. Categorization and multiple filter types will clarify user’s content to its customers, resulting in improved find rates, better understanding of the data and smiles all round. On the other hand, SearchUnit can also be used within the company’s own SaaS cloud applications, providing a scalable search engine for all the clients.

SearchUnit’s JavaScript based usage and web services (WCF or ASMX) architecture mean that client platforms and frameworks such as MVC, Web Forms, ASP.NET AJAX, HTML, ASP, jQuery, AngularJS, Azure etc are all supported. Windows Services or the Task Scheduler can be used to periodically reindex content, and use SearchUnit’s API to incrementally index content immediately.

SearchUnit's templates accommodate leading edge CSS / HTML based responsive designs. Users can also setup ACLs (called Security Groups) to stop users even seeing results they are not entitled to open. SearchUnit indexes data from a multitude of sources, such as: crawlable web applications and web sites (internal and external), fileservers, databases, custom data providers (DLLs) and also supports data being pushed in programmatically.

All data sources are searchable as a whole or separately using SearchUnit's Location categorization. And since it runs on the user’s hardware and requires no broader internet access, users can run it behind their firewall.
