Xournal

Xournal is an application used for note-taking, sketching and also keeping a journal using a stylus. This software is quite flexible since it runs on Linux and some other GTK+Gnome platforms.

This program has some similar qualities when compared to windows journal or Jarnal which is another useful application used for note taking, sketching, keeping a journal, making a presentation, annotating a document - including pdf - or collaborating using a stylus, mouse or keyboard.

It is similar to Microsoft Windows Journal and to the earlier Mimeo whiteboarding and Palm notepad applications. There is also a commercial knockoff of Jarnal called PDF Annotator. Xournal usually aims to provide superior graphical quality and overall functionality.

This program has some several useful features like; the eraser which normally lets you erase what you have drawn. By default, stylus buttons 2 and 3 are mapped to the eraser tool. The eraser comes in three different thicknesses and can operate in three different modes.

This tool also has the text tool which is basically used to insert a new text item, click at the location where the text is to be inserted on the page, then type it in or paste it using the contextual menu.
