Faculty and staff members bring their own real-world knowledge into the classroom to the benefit of students. In the first year of your MBA experience, you will start taking classes in your chosen career field right away. Early preparation in your specialization enables you to make the most of experiential learning opportunities. It also makes you more effective on your summer internship. The first year also includes two-week immersion program which is structured to develop your skills in leadership, career management, and communication. Most students travel during summer into locations in the world to complete internships between their first and second years. With your core curriculum completed in the first year, you will have flexibility to explore your interests in the second year of the program. Each career specialization offers electives from immense breadth of options offered in the University of Wisconsin. By bringing the knowledge gained in the first year to these positions, students can be quick and skillful in responding to the challenges encountered during the internship. In the second year, you and your group of peers will focus on an area of specialization and participate in real world learning opportunities. Global Learning experiences give students have an opportunity to build cross cultural awareness and experience firsthand how global business is conducted. These experiences include a consulting project with a multinational corporation or company based within your country of travel. The project includes on-site consultations with company leaders, tours that shed light on each destination’s economy, history, and culture, and a final presentation of your team’s recommendations.
