The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management of the University of Texas at Dallas is delivered through the Naveen Jindal School of Management and it provides students with the skills needed to identify, resolve, and manage complex operational problems. The program introduces students to current supply chain operating practices, analysis methods, technology, applications, and strategy developments. The MS SCM degree is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program that teaches students the design and management of industrial supply chains including the techniques used to improve operations and resolve related key issues. To earn the degree, students are required to complete 36 semester credit hours that can be covered in around 18 to 24 months. It focuses on the management of business activities such as product development, sourcing, production and logistics, and the management of resources and related capabilities the organization needs to accomplish its strategic objectives. This Master’s program has been approved by the internationally recognized Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and students with or without a previous background in the supply chain area can enroll for the program. Graduates of this program can get employment in a variety of supply chain management positions in almost any industry. And towards this end, the school maintains many corporate relationships to support and boost recruitment opportunities. The provides various events and engagements that let students network with industry executives, better understand the market, and learn more about what is expected of them in the workforce.. As part of the program, students participate in a group capstone project under the guidance of an instructor, which lets students obtain valuable practical experience and transferrable skills. The advantage of a capstone project is that employers gain direct interaction with future professionals and exposure to new strategies, concept, and solutions.
