The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Haslam College of Business offers a full-time MBA program that prepares students for lifetime success not only in management roles but also in many other fields. This program is among the top ranked programs in the country and it takes around 17 months of hard work to earn the Haslam MBA. The first year of this program focuses on building a solid foundation of business and experiential knowledge. The Haslam MBA program begins with Immersion week also called LEAP. LEAP stands for Learn, Engage, Access, and Present. The first year of the program is divided into four sessions; the first three sessions end with an integrated case competition customized annually to reflect current business issues. The fourth session concludes with innovation in practice presentations which are a culmination of a unique7-1/2 week consulting project. At the end of first year, you will travel to other countries to participate in required Global Business Seminar. This experiential learning opportunity provides firsthand look at the cultural, administrative, and economic complexities of conducting business internationally. If you are an international student with an F-1 visa, your global experience may take place in the United States. After completing your first year, you are required to secure a summer internship that will act as an opportunity to apply what you have learned in the classroom into a real business setting. The internship session gives you invaluable hands-on experience, and also allows you to build a professional network. In the second year, students develop expertise in areas matching their career interests and goals. You will achieve this by taking concentrations and elective courses (12 credit hours), an MBA Capstone Course, and a Global Business Strategy program (3 credit hours).
