The innovative Illinois MBA curriculum utilizes an Action Learning model that lets you learn and apply business principles working with external clients, in every semester of the two-year MBA program. The project is instructed by a world-class faculty and features small class-sizes that allow students to learn from and with each other. The Illinois Action Learning experiences ties together all aspects of the MBA experience: classroom learning, leadership development, career planning and team building, and integrates real-world projects throughout the entire program. During the orientation process, you will set goals around defined leadership competencies and key milestones using My Plan™, a roadmap that outlines a set of personal goals. In the first semester of the first year, you will study core MBA classes and participate in a client consulting project. These projects give students an opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in the classroom into the real world. You will study remaining core MBA classes in the second semester which also involves an in-country immersion experience or an optional global immersion experience. Students use the summer duration to engage in internship opportunities which enable them to enhance their acquired skills further. The second year features a flexible curriculum that lets you customize a focus area that best meets your goals and objectives. This time, most of the learning is conducted through elective labs and entrepreneurship labs. You will gain experience in entrepreneurship through a number of possible opportunities including the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Cozad New Venture Competition, and Entrepreneurs without Borders (EWOB). Again, the Illinois Business Consulting (IBC) helps you put your skills to work by solving real business problems through consulting services with external clients including Fortune 500 companies, startups, and nonprofits. The Career Management Center, through a series of workshops, seminars, and engagements, take students through key topics that equip students with the skill set required to thrive in today’s competitive job market.
