The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in all the areas of business analytics, while allowing considerable flexibility so that students can individually tailor their programs according to their interests or career plans. The program consists of three main components: Prerequisites, Program Requirements and MS Capstone. Prerequisites are divided into Mathematics and Basic Business Knowledge (BBK). The Mathematics requirements must be completed before a student can start the program. BBK may be completed while in the program, but may add to the total numbers of hours needed to complete the program. With Program Requirements, the 33 semester hours will consist of 25 semester credits of required Business Analytics (BANA) courses and 8 semester credits of electives, at least 4 of which must be BANA-prefixed courses at the 6000 level or above. Each student must select at least 8 additional graduate-level semester credits of coursework. At least 4 credits of these 8 elective credits must be graduate BANA courses. All electives must be approved by the Academic Director. Lastly, MS Capstone; this program requires the completion of a Capstone experience. The experience will be described in an original essay based on a research project, an extension of a course case analysis or project, or a description of an internship project or projects. This may describe a research project based on an idea proposed independently by the student or with faculty input, an extension of a case analysis or project completed in a class such as BANA7095, Graduate Case Studies in Business Analytics; or a project or projects completed during a one-semester internship taken as part of the student's MS-Business Analytics course work.
