The Master of Financial Analysis (MFinA) program of the State University of New Jersey has been designed to help students achieve one of the prestigious accomplishments in the finance industry; holding a CFA charter. Rutgers Business School is one of only 10 U.S. CFA Institute partner schools that offer a one year master's degree purposely to help students prepare to take the CFA exam. The Master of Financial Analysis degree is a 33 credit program that can be taken on a full or part-time basis. For full-timers, it’s a lock step program implying that students will take the same set of academic classes. The part-time option is designed for working professionals with at least two years working experience. Part-time students also take the same courses and follow the same 33-credit curriculum, but can complete the degree in a flexible timeline within a period of strictly four years. The MFinA program does not only prepare students academically, but also provides a way for students to improve their English proficiency. This is achieved through a Summer Intensive Business English (SIBE) course that focuses on strengthening English speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills, mostly for international students. This course, can only be taken beginning in July each year, also covers practical skills such as professional networking, public speaking and making presentations, conducting meetings, interviews, and negotiations, among other critical proficiencies. At the end of the program students are required to participate in a 4-day review boot camp which is conducted within the campus by the New York Society of Security Analysts' instructional staff. Students also access career services offered by the Career Management office which include; career-related counseling, resources and programs to help current students and alumni to align career goals, establish career plans, and develop job-search skills. The Rutgers School of Business, under which this program is offered, build relationships with alumni, employers, and other career offices to optimize career opportunities while also creating strategic partnerships with various stakeholders.
