Shotcut elegant and intuitive interface gives multiple dockable and undockable panels that include detailed media properties, recent files with search, playlists with thumbnail view, filter panel, history view, jobs queue, melted server, and encoding panel. Shotcut supports many audio and video formats and codecs.

Shotcut also eliminates importing which means it allows native editing, plus multi-format timeliness, resolutions and frame rates within a project. The video editing software also allows accurate framing seeking supported for many video formats. Other broad format support features include support 4K resolutions, audio capture, webcam capture, network stream playback, colour, noise, and counter generators, and exporting single frame as image or video as an image sequence.

The device and transport options provide users with an excellent platform to use blackmagic design SDI and HDMI for input and preview monitoring. Users also have a perfect platform to use the screen, webcam, and audio capture. Other hardware and device support offered by Shotcut include an OpenGL GPU-based image processing with 16-bit floating point linear per colour component, multi-core parallel image processing, DeckLink SDI keyer output, and leap motion.

The display and monitoring feature provides detailed media properties panel, thumbnail and waveform cashing between sessions, external monitoring on an extra system display or monitor, control video zoom in the player, UI themes, and flexible UI through dock-able panels.
