The Master of Science in Project Management offered at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to lead complex projects across a variety of industries and positions. At Saint Mary's, you'll learn alongside equally motivated peers and from industry professionals who incorporate real-world examples in their delivery. This educational approach gives you the confidence and capability to immediately apply what you learn in your coursework directly into your workplace. To earn the Master of Science in Project Management degree, you must complete a total of 36 credits including: 9 credits of required general management courses; 24 credits of required project management courses; and a 3-credit required Capstone course. Up to 6 credits may be transferred into the program at the time of admission if the course previously taken matches a required course. In addition, students who hold PMP Certification at admission may waive the PRM600 Fundamentals of Project Management and substitute another 3 credit course. Students may take other graduate courses in the School of Business and Technology.
Throughout the entire course of your study, the program’s curriculum will emphasize the importance of setting clear goals, managing a project's scope, and effectively communicating with and motivating a project team. You will also learn how to successfully complete a project's stated objectives on time and within budget. In addition, the project’s curriculum is in full alignment with Project Management Institute's standards and will prepare students for certification by the institution, which is the premier certifying organization for the project management discipline. Students of the program will gain the skills, tools and techniques required to effectively and successfully complete projects.
