The first year core curriculum at Rice Business is designed to provide foundational building blocks for tomorrow's business leaders. It covers such topics as data analysis, finance, managerial economics, marketing, financial accounting, strategy formulation and implementation, ethics, organizational behavior, communications and more. In the second year, full-time MBA students tailor their curriculum by choosing electives that align with their career aspirations from the more than 100 available. Students can also choose an Action Learning Project (ALP) as an elective for academic credit. The ALP is a thirteen-week, team-based consultative project, where MBA students work in teams to solve real-business problems for external clients and provide detailed and actionable recommendations. After the first year, all full-time MBA students take part in a Global Immersion program as part of their curriculum which involves consulting projects for international clients. These projects will be concentration-specific and give students an opportunity to apply their learned knowledge to real-world business situations. Full-Time MBA students also attend international seminars hosted by other business schools across the globe. The Rice Business global programs help students gain valuable exposure to different cultures, make business contacts, hear from dynamic speakers and network with alumni. On top of that, MBA students can benefit from a variety of other networking and leadership opportunities available.
