Poseidon is a platform that not only allows users to build excellent UML tools but also to create virtually any graphical modeling tool. Users are able to create their own specific modeling tool, based on the Poseidon platform.

This allows them to create a Domain Specific Modeling Language or DSL that perfectly matches their needs in modeling and code generation. With "Poseidon for DSLs" users can create professional graphical modelling tools within hours. Version 2.0 allows users can create a graphical editor for an arbitrary EMF model and configure it in a convenient and flexible way.

It also lets them create domain specific modeling languages (DSLs) within hours. From a set of simple models it enables users to create tools similar to the popular Poseidon for UML, but for their own modeling language.

The same well thought out user interface and modeling mechanisms are available to any graphical modeling notation by applying the mechanisms of MDSD to the Gentleware technologies. Along the same lines, Poseidon for UML is based on Poseidon for DSLs platform.

It is a great UML tool with a complete set of diagrams (class, package, use case, state, component, activity and sequence diagrams) and excellent user interface. It provides improvements in stability, scalability, performance, reliability and customization. A considerable part of the tool is generated from a handful of models (MDSD). Users can simply change these models and by that create their own DSL modeling tool that shares the same user interface and performance characteristics as Poseidon for UML 8.0.
