Paxata is self-service Adaptive Data Preparation platform that lets business analysts rapidly collect, explore, transform and combine data with the same freedom they are used to in their analytic discovery.

Paxata’s solution lets business people make data sets ready for ad-hoc analytics without going through the painful and manual steps they traditionally dealt with. Paxata platform was built with a data management layer that persists data inside the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and a real-time columnar parallelized in-memory pipeline data prep engine powered by Intellifusion.

The data prep engine wraps Apache Spark v1.1 with additional functionality built to optimize Spark performance and responsiveness.

Paxata is an application layer with an HTML5 User Interface built on a platform comprised of three layers: a Java web services layer, a parallel pipeline data prep engine that wraps Apache Spark with additional functionality built to optimize Spark performance and responsiveness, and a data management layer that persists data inside HDFS. Intellifusion is Paxata’s data prep automation engine enabled by proprietary machine learning, latent semantic indexing, statistical pattern recognition and text analytics techniques.

Intellifusion handles data in a model-free environment and operates over a large variety and volumes of structured and unstructured data in real-time, enabled by a vector query processor.At the core of Intellifusion is the combination of a distributed in-memory processing engine from Apache Spark with a Paxata-proprietary Spark interface that interprets requests from the web services layer and compiles them into the minimum set of operations that need to be executed on the cluster.
