OpenEpi provides statistics for counts and measurements in descriptive and analytic studies, sample size and power calculations, stratified analysis with exact confidence limits, analytic studies, random numbers, sensitivity, specificity and other evaluation statistics, chi-square for dose response, RxC tables, and links to other useful sites.

OpenEpi can be run from the server or downloading whereby no web connection will not be required. OpenEpi is free and open source software for epidemiologic statistics.

The programs are written in JavaScript and HTML and should at all cost be compatible with Mac, the recent Linux and PC browsers regardless of the operating system in use. In possession of an iPhone and an Android phone, you can run these programs. To be in a position to access OpenEpi on the web via openepi.com, JavaScript has to be enabled. Test results are provided for each module so that you are in a position to judge the reliability, although it is always a good idea to check important results with software from more than a single source.

The links to hundreds of internet calculators are provided. The programs having an open source license, they can be downloaded, distributed, or translated. Some of the components from other sources have licensing statements in the source of code files. OpenEpi development was supported in part by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health.

A tool for creating new modules and for translation is included. Open Epi is now available in other languages apart from English which include; Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.
