The Northeastern University’s Master of Science in Project Management is designed to help you obtain and learn the practical skills and theoretical concepts needed to lead complex projects. This Project Management degree incorporates real-world case studies as well as techniques and tools for managing long- and short-term projects, in order to complete projects successfully and cost effectively. The program’s comprehensive and articulate curriculum covers such topics as project definition, cost and risk estimation, schedule planning and monitoring, budget management, negotiation and conflict resolution, project leadership, and project presentation and evaluation. To earn the MSPM degree, students take on 8 required core Project Management courses. Students who do not have at least two years of professional experience working on projects are required to take on the Foundations of Project Management course, which is specially designed for those who are not familiar with professional project work. A Project Management Capstone course forms part of the required courses and enables you to apply what you learn in the classroom in real-life scenarios. The program also sees students partake 2 Elective courses and also chose one concentration, which augment the core project management courses and provide you with content-specific expertise. This enables you to deepen your knowledge in your field of interest. You are also at liberty to contact your Career and Academic Coach if you have concentration questions or if you want to pursue a custom concentration. In total, you are required to complete a minimum of 45 to 48 quarter credit hours depending on your selected concentration.
