The Master of Science in Project Management at Missouri State University is an interdisciplinary and applied program which provides STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education to project management professionals from any discipline. Students in the program are expected to be proficient in the use of software applications that are specified by course instructors, as no course has been defined to teach such skills. The Master of Science in Project Management program equips individuals with the various leadership and managerial skills needed to manage projects and keep them within budget and on schedule, while meeting specifications and achieving customer satisfaction. Courses in the program align with the widely recognized Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®). The program itself is accredited by the PMI (Project Management Institute) Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education.

The Master of Science in Project Management program offers two options for the students: Seminar option and Thesis option. Each student will be advised by the Program Director or the Student Support Specialist on what each choice entails. Students who chose the Seminar option will be required to complete 36 credit hours, while for the thesis option, students take 33 credit hours. The coursework in both options includes core courses, cognate elective courses, and several other requirements. Core courses include: Project Management, Project Leadership, Project Control Systems, Cost Analysis for Project Management, Management of Innovation and Technology, and Advanced Project Management. All cognate elective courses must be approved by the student’s advisor prior to completion of the coursework. Students should select courses that support the degree program as well as their career goals.
