The Master of Finance program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business will introduce you to some of the top minds in finance today. The program is taught by a faculty that is among the top ranked in the nation, and who also serve as consultants to Fortune 500 companies, multinational corporations, and government agencies. The school’s professors are also eminent scholars who are regularly awarded for their research, teaching and other achievements. Students in this program gain skills that will set you apart in an increasingly competitive job market. Students will develop a specialization within a business discipline that will equip them to pursue an ideal career or advance in their current field, in as few as nine months. The program features a comprehensive curriculum that prepares you adequately for tough and rewarding career options in the finance industry. Students are required to study 12 credits of core finance courses and an additional 18 credits of finance electives that align with their interests and career targets. These courses are tailored to help students attain competence in using the latest tools in corporate finance, asset management, risk management, and valuation. To achieve this, students participate in Center for Financial Policy events and get industry-specific career coaching, as well as receive tremendous preparation for the CFA exam. There are also other opportunities for students to enhance their finance education including experiential learning projects and case competitions where they can apply their learned knowledge in real-world applications. Another benefit of this program is that you study in a campus just outside the capital of the United States, Washington, D.C, a city that has been listed as one of the best places to live in America by this year’s U.S. News & World Report this year. And even better; you can complete the degree in one or two years.
