The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management offers a dynamic MBA program’s curriculum is strategically designed to provide the knowledge and skills that prepare students for real management challenges in diverse career fields. The MIT Sloan two-year MBA degree program is completed in four semesters, where each semester is divided in half, separated by the Sloan Innovation Period, a dedicated week of experiential learning based on the themes of the mission of the School. In the first semester, students are required to study a core of courses, after which they personalize the curriculum throughout the rest of their time at MIT Sloan by pursuing tracks that include; Finance, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Enterprise Management, depending on your personal goals and interests. The first-semester core courses act as a foundation for the more action-oriented second half of the year. During this semester, students are grouped into six cohorts each having about 70 students from diverse backgrounds and having varied interests and experiences. Within each cohort, smaller teams of six or seven students work together throughout the Core semester on assignments, collaborate on projects, and study for exams. The team’s diversity reflects that of a modern workplace and allows students to learn new skills and test leadership abilities. The MIT Sloan MBA experience revolves around action learning which guides the school’s approach to management education and a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities for students. And towards this end, students participate in a 2-week innovation period where they engage in credit-bearing global experiences. This gives them a chance to exercise their leadership skills and apply classroom learning to management challenges in organizations around the world. By the end of the program, students will have completed a total 144 units of electives that will warn them either an MBA degree or, if they complete an optional thesis, a Master of Science in Management (SM).
