LoopBack can: Run on-premises or in the cloud, Set up models and create REST APIs in minutes, Create models based on your schema if users have one, Create dynamic models if users don't, Define hasMany, belongsTo, hasAndBelongsToMany relationships, Automatically generate corresponding relational REST endpoints and Add custom policies using CLI or JSON.

LoopBack has: Easy-to-use CLI wizard, Built-in API Explorer, Model relation support, Easy authentication and authorization setup, Built-in role-based access controls, oAuth user and registration models baked in browser support (JSONP and CORS) and MIT Open-Source license.LoopBack also uses Juggler which connects to backend data stores like MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgres and others, Other REST services; Discovery APIs for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server.

It can also run Ad-hoc queries; run dynamic queries on devices, browsers and the server; and support for NoSQL-style queries against relational databases. Aside from juggler, LoopBack also supports Client SDKs such as Native Mobile and Browser SDKs and can easily persist data with a database API on the client from Android / Java, iOS, Browser JavaScript (Angular).
