Grasshopper is a virtual phone system designed for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and even medium enterprises that are looking for communication system that is effective, affordable, and easy to use. With Grasshopper, users can get 800, local, and vanity numbers, as well as an auto-attendant and voicemail transcription – all of which can operate with an existing phone line.

Grasshopper provides a rich array of features, including custom greetings, call forwarding, call screening, and inbound fax. Voice mail and inbound faxes are automatically converted to email, so there are no documents to convert. Another benefit of Grasshopper is there are no long-term contracts.

Call quality is rated by experts as among the best in the business. For customer service, Grasshopper provides both a 24/7 toll-free number and access via a virtual help desk. Because there are relatively few moving pieces here, most users report that it's easy to start right up. With its simple and straightforward account manager – which is complemented by a minimalist desktop softphone – everything can be easily customized, from call forwarding and call routing to voicemails and individual greeting messages.

Additionally, the iOS and Android app easily separates business related calls and messages from personal ones. All of these features, plus such rarities as professional greetings, business SMS messaging, and inbound faxing are available in three different yet affordable pricing plans. Grasshopper provides a desktop app that, just as with the mobile app, can basically be used as a softphone. Thankfully, however, this software is not limited to just being used for this function since it’s also capable of sending and receiving business text messages, checking voicemails and faxes, and displaying call history.
