The George Washington School of Business’ Master of Science in Project Management is a highly specialized program applicable to all industries. Admission to the MSPM program is competitive. Applicants must present a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and also meet the minimum requirements. The MS in Project Management program aligns itself with the Project Management Institute’s PMBOK standards. Students will cover such topics as planning, scheduling, risk management, and cost estimation, and also learn project portfolio management and executive decision making. It is instructed by distinguished industry experts who bring realistic examples from the workplace to the classroom, and integrate those examples into the overall curriculum. The program features an innovative and unique curriculum that combines the core principles of project management with general management and leadership training. The curriculum encompasses personal and qualitative issues, as well as the technical, quantitative aspects of managing projects.
Courses encourage teamwork helping students to develop the skills to tackle complex projects and also synthesize diverse perspectives. Every course is offered on-campus as well as in the distance learning mode. On-campus classes are scheduled in the evenings, from Monday-Thursday on the Foggy Bottom campus. Online students watch recorded lectures and also participate in a weekly hour-long virtual classroom sessions. Students must complete each stage in order. The courses in Phase A: Management Principles and Electives may be taken at any time during the program before the Capstone. The George Washington University School of Business also partners with the Renmin University of China-International College (RUC-IC) to offer a Master of Science in Project Management degree, specially customized for Chinese students. Those who successfully complete the MSPM program requirements receive an MSPM degree from GWSB as well as a certificate in project management from RUC-IC.
