EnterpriseDB (EDB) provides software and services based on the open-source database PostgreSQL. EDB develops and integrates performance, security, and manageability enhancements into PostgreSQL to support enterprise-class workloads for its database, EDB Postgres Advanced Server. EDB has also developed database compatibility for Oracle to facilitate the migration of workloads from Oracle to EDB Postgres and to support the operation of many Oracle workloads on EDB Postgres. EnterpriseDB integrates with enterprise technologies and infrastructures for hybrid cloud management, data integration, and data warehousing. EnterprseDB customers benefit from the most reliable, high-performing, flexible, open, and cost-effective data management platform available. EDB’s Migration Toolkit (MTK) migrates tables, data, stored procedures (Oracle only) and custom developed packages (Oracle only) from SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle and MySQL to EDB Advanced Server. EDB Failover Manager (EFM) provides the high availability infrastructure for EDB Postgres. EFM monitors the members of a Postgres cluster, identifies and verifies database failures quickly and reliably, and, if needed, promotes a standby node to become the cluster master and issues alerts. EnterpriseDB has also developed enterprise-class tools for performance, scalability, high availability, and management. These tools enable database administrators to easily manage more and bigger Postgres database deployments. EDB helps organizations avoid vendor lock-in by providing an open source–based alternative to other database solutions and gives them more flexibility to find database solutions that match their business and operational needs. EDB also adds value with enterprise tool suites; a wide range of deployment options from on-premises to public, private, and hybrid clouds; and the services, support, and training needed by enterprises to be successful. The EDB performance optimizations for the RDBMS as well as compatibility APIs that ease transition from other leading database products have been identified by EDB customers as clear differentiators.
