Cybus Connectware is a locally installed and managed software that connects all possible data from machines, components and sensors with all possible users of this data. All the information provided as of October 2018.
Category
Software, Middleware, Edge Software
Sub Category
Industrial IoT, Shop-floor data management platform
Features
•The Cybus Connectware is installed and managed locally. •The Cybus Connectware can be used in various industries to provide integration and supervision of production lines, for collecting data from machines, equipments, IoT devices (e.g. sensors, wearables) and integrating them into the plant, existing local systems or external cloud applications. •It allows factories to integrate machines into existing IT-landscapes up to 90% faster; cut critical reaction times and data transfer and storage costs; build customized systems; separate data management from applications as well as stay future-proof (for scalability, security and data governance). •Service providers benefit from being able to focus fully on their application instead of nitty-gritty of customers’ IT and to offer an independent and secure IoT Gateway for higher acceptance by their customers.
License
Apart from associated services and hardware, the main model is based on licenses.
Pricing
•Factory licenses start at 200-5.000 EUR per month - depending on functionality and the number of connected devices and services. •External service providers (e.g. analytics providers, maintenance providers, component manufacturers and suppliers) pay x EUR fee per installed application or machine.
Users Size
SMEs
User Industry
Mainly discrete manufacturing (metalworking and automotive sector), but technology is usable in other industries as well (e.g. healthcare, aerospace, energy, utilities, smart vehicles etc.)
•Cybus offers data management independent of devices and applications as well as detailed access rights management at a data point level. •Additionally, it is the only provider in the DACH region with a fully integrated and use-case-independent solution approach for end-to-end connectivity and data orchestration.
What are the benefits?
•With the Cybus Connectware factories can optimize their production, make their IT/OT easily manageable, use their shop floor data from different sources in different applications, connect and integrate new sensors, machines and applications easily and quickly as well as avoid lock-ins (retain data sovereignty and keep local control over their data, therefore staying independent of machine and application vendors). •Service Providers are able to offer an independent and secure IoT Gateway for higher acceptance by their customers, to focus on their application instead of nitty-gritty of customers’ IT and to sell digitally-enhanced products and data-driven services.

Bottom Line
Many providers offer some of our functions but miss our core value by not separating data management from their devices or applications – creating lock-in – or offer only bits and pieces of data management – increasing complexity. Cybus allows to avoid lock-ins by separating data management from devices and applications as well as offers detailed access rights management at a data point level.

Cybus Connectware is a locally installed and managed software that connects all possible data from machines, components and sensors with all possible users of this data. It takes care of data acquisition (”translating” protocols from different sensors and machines), data security and management (offering fine-grained data-point level access rights management) and easy data usage (with edge computing capabilities and a “factory API”). The users retain data sovereignty and can gradually connect all their machines, sensors and external service providers.
Why Cybus? Firstly, we offer data management independent of devices and applications (avoidance of lock-ins from specific hardware or software applications and clouds). Secondly, we are the only provider in the DACH region with a fully integrated and use-case-independent solution approach for end-to-end connectivity and data orchestration. Thirdly, we offer detailed access rights management at a data point level (first International Data Spaces Association pre-certified solution since April 2018).
Finally, we provide both an integration platform and a gateway for “remote data sharing”. The Cybus Connectware is targeted, on the one hand, at manufacturers who wish to use their data to optimize their production.
On the other hand, target customers are component/machine manufacturers or other service providers who want to focus on their application only and offer a gateway solution which gives their end customers full local control over their data. At the moment, we mainly focus on companies engaged in discrete manufacturing (metalworking and automotive sector), but as the technology is universally usable, we also attract demand from process industry or other critical sectors, e.g. healthcare, aerospace, energy, utilities, smart vehicles, etc. Reference customers are Pfannenberg, Schunk, TüV Nord, Wittenstein, B. Braun.
