Azure Security Center provides unified security management and advanced threat protection across hybrid cloud workloads. Enable adaptive threat protection to reduce exposure to attacks. Block malware and other unwanted code by applying application controls adapted to specific workloads and powered by machine learning.

Enable just-in-time, controlled access to management ports on Azure VMs to drastically reduce surface area exposed to brute force and other network attacks. Use advanced analytics and the Microsoft Intelligent Security Graph to get an edge over evolving cyber attacks. Leverage built-in behavioral analytics and machine learning to identify attacks and zero-day exploits.

Monitor networks, machines, and cloud services for incoming attacks and post-breach activity. Streamline investigation with interactive tools and contextual threat intelligence. Security Center uses advanced analytics and global threat intelligence to detect incoming attacks and post-breach activity. Alerts are prioritized and grouped into incidents, helping users focus on the most critical threats first.

Quickly assess the scope and impact of an attack with a visual, interactive investigation experience, and use predefined or ad hoc queries for deeper exploration of security data. Security Center collects data from Azure VMs and non-Azure computers to monitor for security vulnerabilities and threats.

Data is collected using the Microsoft Monitoring Agent, which reads various security-related configurations and event logs from the machine and copies the data to the workspace for analysis. When automatic provisioning is enabled, Security Center installs the Microsoft Monitoring Agent on all supported Azure VMs and any new ones that are created.
