Azure Cosmos DB was built from the ground up with global distribution and horizontal scale at its core. Azure Cosmos DB provides native support for NoSQL choices, offers multiple well-defined consistency models, guarantees single-digit-millisecond latencies at the 99th percentile, and guarantees high availability.

Document Database
Features
• Automatic indexing allows for filtering against multiple different properties in real-time • Social features: in-game chat messages, player guild memberships, challenges completed, high-score leader-boards, and social graphs • Five different consistency levels: bounded staleness, strong, session, eventual, and consistent-prefix • LINQ language integrated queries • Geo-fencing ensures data governance and compliance restrictions • Restoration of deleted data from backups

Azure Cosmos DB
What is best?
• Social features: in-game chat messages, player guild memberships, challenges completed, high-score leader-boards, and social graphs • Five different consistency levels: bounded staleness, strong, session, eventual, and consistent-prefix • LINQ language integrated queries • Geo-fencing ensures data governance and compliance restrictions • Restoration of deleted data from backups
What are the benefits?
• Latency: Very low latency is practically guaranteed at less than 10 milliseconds when reading data • Better disaster recovery: Replicate data from one region to a failover region when the primary region becomes unavailable • Tunable consistency: Programmatically override and relax the default consistency choice on a per request basis at runtime • Operate at a very low cost to pass on the savings to customers

Azure Cosmos DB was built from the ground up with global distribution and horizontal scale at its core. Azure Cosmos DB provides native support for NoSQL choices, offers multiple well-defined consistency models, guarantees single-digit-millisecond latencies at the 99th percentile, and guarantees high availability with multi-homing capabilities and low latencies anywhere in the world. Only Azure Cosmos DB allows users to use key-value, graph, column-family, and document data in one service. Azure Cosmos DB automatically indexes all data and allows you to use favorite API including SQL, JavaScript, Gremlin, MongoDB… Azure Cosmos DB offers five well-defined consistency levels—strong, bounded staleness, consistent-prefix, session, and eventual—for an intuitive programming model with low latency and high availability for planet-scale app. Serve read and write requests from the nearest region while simultaneously distributing data across the globe. Scale instantly and elastically to accommodate diverse and unpredictable IoT workloads without sacrificing ingestion or query performance. Azure Cosmos DB supports flexible schemas and hierarchical data, and thus it is well suited for storing product catalog data. Azure Cosmos DB uses hash-based message authentication code (HMAC) for authorization. Each request is hashed using the secret account key, and the subsequent base-64 encoded hash is sent with each call to Azure Cosmos DB. With Azure Cosmos DB multi-master support, perform writes on containers of data (for example, collections, graphs, tables) distributed anywhere in the world. Azure is constantly growing its geographical presence by bringing new regions online. Azure Cosmos DB is classified as a foundational service in Azure and is available in all new Azure regions by default.
