Coupled with Adobe AIR, developing for mobile platforms like Apple iPods, iPads, iPhones and Android devices has never been easier; users can build applications that target all browsers by leveraging the Adobe Flash Player and JavaScript, make desktop application by leveraging the Adobe Integrated Runtime (Adobe AIR) or create powerful, cross-platform mobile applications that target Apple iPods, iPhones, iPads, Android based smartphones and tablets, and Blackberry Playbook devices.

The Apache Flex SDK allows users to write code that is highly reusable and deployable on all the major platforms. Consistently deploy apps to the respective app stores and reduce the time spent making native applications.Users can also utilize UI components such as buttons, forms, containers, lists, data grids, and much more to make your application stylish with minimal work.

Apache Flex utilizes MXML for layout and AS3 (an ECMAScript based language like JavaScript) for coding. Use the Eclipse-based IDEs like Adobe Flash Builder and FDT or use IntelliJ IDEA or any text editor to make applications.

By targeting the Adobe Flash Player, users can build applications to be available to over 90% of internet-connected devices. Users may target Internet Explorer 5+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and Solaris in a predictable, consistent manner. With support from Eclipse based Adobe Flash Builder, FDT, FlashDevelop and JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA users can work at the user’s own pace, using the platform users want.
