Rutgers University use Marketing Technology to Build Deeper Alumni Relationships : Rutgers University Alumni Association and Rutgers University Foundation are using Marketo platform to engage and build relationships with alumni and donors. The Rutgers University Alumni Association serves more than 470,000 alumni and over 130 diverse charter groups around the world, promoting services, volunteer opportunities, and alumni events, and the Rutgers University Foundation advances Rutgers’ pursuit of excellence in education, research, and public service. With an aim to provide alumni and donors with information that appeals to their individual interests and school connections, the organizations were seeking a marketing solution that allowed broad customization and segmentation of their diverse communication materials.The Rutgers University Alumni Association and Rutgers University Foundation selected Marketo, in part, because its interface would allow its charter group leaders to communicate with alumni and donors personally and seamlessly at-scale. The marketing platform will provide the alumni association and foundation data that will help them continuously adapt to alumni and donor interests and needs.

“These services will allow our professional staff and, most importantly, our alumni and donors, to tailor relevant content and be empowered to manage the ways we communicate with and through them,” said Tom Hammond, Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations of the Rutgers University Alumni Association. “We will work with Marketo as we continue to enhance our communication program in service to our alumni.”

The Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA) was founded on July 1, 2008, as the first all-inclusive alumni association at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Formed after an extensive process to bring 19 separate alumni organizations together under one strong, the united alumni association now includes more than 470,000 members and over 130 diverse charter groups.
